Britt. It is ok.
Make sure you get a good quality box for them. The box can make a big difference too. I am currently running 1 12" in my car with only 200 watts pushing it and it is enough bass to make my mirror shake and my radar detector dance. I have to turn my bass down to keep it from hurting my head too much. I guess I designed the box too well.
Dont accept anything less than 3/4" mdf for the construction.

 

No, I have memphis mojo subwoofers, and memphis amps. I almosthad a memphis belle amp, but I couldn't afford it.
