fox body H.U. install
ok so as i have stated in a previous thread this car is an electrical nightmare...not my forte'...im hooking up an aftermarket head unit to a 92 fox lx. no amp, just basic. the head unit works, and i have sound out of all six speakers. the only problem i am having is the head unit will not turn on with the car. i have to manually turn it on. also the head unit will not keep its settings, ie bass, trebble, volume...etc... my question is where do i hook up the mem/batt wire. if i hook it up to a constant the presets stay, however the radio will continue to play with the car off. hence my next question... i do not have the rem hooked in the car because it was ripped out...as was the power antenna...why is beyond me. where can i hook up the remote wire to have it turn on and off the headunit? thanks in advance...
the remote wire does not have to be hooked up to any thing unless you get a power antena or amp.
-hook the Constant (uselly yellow) to a constant battery scorce with a fuse
-hook the switched (uesly red) to the switched ignition power
it would help if i knew exactly what kind of H.U. you had

you need to find the +12v switched wire as well as the +12v constant. the constant should be the yellow wire, the switched should be red/light green. Test these wires with a voltmeter or test light AFTER checking ALL the fuses.
Is there a shiney box with a bunch of holes in it in the shape of an hexagon in the bottom of the dash, or under the rear deck?
