mach 460 quit working.. ideas?
Hi everyone. I'm posting trying to find out what happened to my g/f's stereo.. She was driving down the road one day listening to radio when all of a sudden it went out, and wouldn't come back on. It's been about a year since it's worked and i'm finally gettin around to tryin to get to the bottom of it.. any ideas? Is there a fuse on the back of the system that might've blown? I've checked the fuse boxes ( in car and under hood) and they both were good. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
also I did search just didn't find what I was looking for.. thanks!

there is no fuse in the back of of the player. These things are famous for crapping out. Just go after market. or get on ebay and find one there. Even though when I bought one on ebay I had someone "try" to rip me off. he failed and then I sent him a satellite photo of his house and scared the hell out of him.
I would pull the deck and check for power on it. The removal keys are only a couple of buck and it only takes a minute. Did the dome light or anything else electrical quit at the same time?
Hey Unsupa, same problem here. I just bought a 1998 and the 460 does not work. I thought it was the stereo, so I had a new Sony put in, and all I get is mostly terrible out of it. The guy that put it in says the speakers are blown. Does anyone know how to tell if the amps are good? If I replace the speakers in the doors and the rear, is that good enough? What is the best speakers at a reasonable price, Pioneer, Infinity?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Theo

screw the 460 get u a nice sub and sum better speakers anyway. the 460 is great for stock but ull be much happier with an aftermarket system if u listen to alot of music like me
OOOOK did you guys ever check the fuse box when the stereo went out to make sure it just wasnt a blown fuse. ALSO you will need a special adaptor for the harness if you want to use all of the mach 460 with a new head unit. The 4 tweets / mids are powered by the head unit and the subs (in the door) and behind the read seats are linked to the amps, Just replace the head unit and do a basic wire for the 4 tweets and then put a sub in, it sounds great. But check your fuses boys
