Default Too many amps for the battery...

I've got 2 12' Alpine Type R's Runnin off of one Alpine Mono block v12...I have the second V12 that i need (each type R needs its own amp) but i have a problem...i already have a descent size amp runnin my speakers. I know my fair share about car audio and i know that im deffinetly going to need another battery...i was told there are battery's you can buy that are just stronger, is that true? If i get into a whole 2nd battery im not quite sure how to install something like that, or even the best place to put it in a stang...any suggestions?

So your running 3 amps all together? I would suggest getting a higher output battery, a yellow or even a blue top Optoma. And also upgrade you alternator. Late Model has high current (up to 200 amp) alternators and even in multiple colors and polished. You should really think about getting both.

how much would it cost to get the alternator installed, because i know its hard to get down into the engine and i dont trust myself with THOSE sort of things...if i didnt do the alternator and just got the higher output battery, what kinds of risks am i running, cuz im pretty sure im already pretty harsch on my alternator

With that much stuff, honestly get both. You WILL fry out your alternator one night with that much power being drawn from your car and you'll be pissed you didn't just do both at once. Not much to get an Alternator installed, and it's also really simple just loosen the dead pulley un bolt your alternator and put the new one in.

So is there such a thing as an alternator that is "too powerful" for the car?

I've seen the 200 amp alternators, but it just seems like overkill, especially for a lightly mod'd electric system.

What would happen if your alt is TOO powerful?

The alternator isn't "powerful" at all. It only transfers power from the engine to your electrical devices. The rating just tells you the maximum power it can transfer before it gets too hot and starts frying components. The only downside I can think of going bigger is it costs more and is probably physically larger and might not fit easily.

Same thing if your Mustang has too much power. Nothing. Isn't there a country song that has lyrics in that like "Too much money, too much fun" or however it goes.
