Antenna Cable
I have a 90 gt. The previous genius who owned the car took the radio out and for some unknown reason cut the radio end off the antenna cable, it is cut off right by the glove box.I am trying to get this car ready to sell so im looking for an easy solution, Is there some way to splice the antenna cable in with an extension and be able to get the antenna to work or am I going to have to run a new antenna cable?
It is possble. If you really just want it working, the easiest thing to do would probably add F-Connectors. You can do a few things really. Assuming you have a new cable that cleanly plugs into the Head Unit you will be reinstalling, you can but the end (the antenna part) off. Now you will have two wires that have clean cuts. The one by the glove box and your new one. Depending on the wire types, a clean way would be to go get some crimp style F-Connectors. The type that looks like is on your cable at home you would plug into a TV. I am guessing there is stranded outer wiring and a solid inner one inside an antenna cable. And just get some cheap crimpers and I would bet rg 59 since it is a smaller cable. You would need the following:
RG 59 F-Connector Cost=$3.99
Crimping Tool Cost=$7.99
F-Connector Coupler Cost=$1.99
I think that would work. This would be a clean install with little possibility of future owner problems. You would have to confirm that antenna wire is contstructed similar to cable with outer braided wires and inner solid wire. That would be needed to work properly.
A cheap fix it, make it work, who cares what it looks like, you can likely just strip each of the wires back and twist them together. Solder the wires and then use electric tape. Or even use electric tape without soldering. Just make sure the wires aren't shorting together. Depends on what you prefer. I am a clean install type person and would do it right. It would also help me feel better knowing the future owner likely will never have to worry about it. That is just me.

Thanks, I got the twist on connectors and a coupler. Works like a charm!
