If you want a pre-amp out to your amp its best to purchase a converter from line-out to pre-amp out and wire it in behind the stereo. Then just install it like you would any other amp/sub combo - power wire from your battery with a fuse and ground wire from a chassis bolt somewhere in the trunk. Don't tap into any of the existing power wires on your car.

actually the best way to do a line output converter is at the rear deck so as to allow you to not have a problem with "noise." A good line converter will allow you to put four wires (two positive and two negative) into one RCA set. That should be all you need. Run the power/ground to the amp and the RCA (not alongside the power wire) to the amp and the speakers (again, not alongside the power wire) to your amp. Need more help? Ask away!
