ok so my brake lights wont illuminate when i step on the brake but my runnign lights do turn on so the bulbs cant be dead because they light up when the running lights are turned on and off.. i checked the fuses under the drivers side dash and there all fine what can my problem be?

 

check the fuses under the hood as well. If you have a voltmeter check and see if you have voltage at the lights, I had a buddy's truck burn out both break lights and I guess near the same time. If you don't have power there, and the fuses under the hood are good, then check the switch at the break, its above the pedal.
