Default Alpine acc.

I have an Alpine 9851 HU with and XM radio attached to a 3.5 mm to RCA then an RCA to AI-net. When I purchased this about 8 months ago, the retailer mentioned that i could an iPod adapter for under $100 bucks if I bought it then. I dodn't but am begining to change my mind. Originally he mentioned a cheap splitt for the Ai-Net so i could have two accesories. I just went back for other work and brought it up again and he said I would need the iPod box(~$100, KCA-420) and the Ai-Net splitter (~$150, KCA 410) is this the cheapest way to do this because if so I changed my mind.

F that. If I want to go for inferior quality and inconvienience (sp ?) I can just plug the iPod in throught the XM output, But that is kindof a hassel when driving, let alone dangerous. I want to go throug Ai-net because I dont want to have to mess with my iPod and my HU at the same time.

yea i agree w/ jtstudley on that one if i were you i wouldnt even mess with it really. just go get a kenwood jp harddive and download your songs on to it from your comp. then plug it in to a cd input rca on the back of your headunit and directly get the songs that way. with this u only have to mess with the head unit.

it is true. but do not waste your money on the kca-420i just pick up a new CDA-9856 and the full speed ipod cable 229.00 for the 2 and you will be able to reuse your rca to Ainet cable for XM. Hope this helps

They did what? Alpines have 1 input on the back which is AI-Net. It can be converted into RCA which I have, and then that RCA cable goes to a 3.5 mm jack in the side of the radio. My basic problem is I need two inputs but am only given one.

That would cost me >230 for the head unit plus whatever the cable costs, plus an extra wasted perfectly good HU. The way I was looking at was about $250, so they would be the same price about, except I would have a wasted HU
