I have an pioneer navi system in my mustang i have the mach 1000 system. What do you guys think i should do to replace my speakers and subs and amps with? i was thinking of getting jbl subs and amp for them. and i was thinking about getting sonys for speakers and a sep amp for them. Does that sound good? Just wondering if any of you guys have any thoughts about sound systems in coups.

 

THe stock stereo is ok, but you're better off replacing everything. Don't buy jbl....get some JLw-1 subs in there or w-7 if you can afford it. Two 10's are always a good way to go. Just make sure you get a good amp to run them....and definetly get new speakers for the mids and highs. Again JL makes some bad as$ speakers for that, I would suggest another amp to run those. It all depends on how much money you want to spend and the sound you're goiing for.

I have 2 JL 12's in my 89gt with a rockford mono output amp. Can't remember what series the speakers or even the amp is but they pound. For speaker selection I always go with JL Audio maybe Kicker comps. As for an amp I am a Pheonix Gold person but they can get very pricy. Rockford's work great also.

 

What ever you do.. DO NOT GET SONY SPEAKERS. they have decent head units. but that's it. there amps suck because they have a history of blowing fuses all the time. And there speakers have no SQ. They distort all the time. JL is very good, espesaly if you get Components. focus on your amps there the heart of the system you can have a 800 dollar sub with without a good amp it will sound like crap. Im putting In my car 2 Directed 1500D Digital Mono Block amps with two either 12" Alpine X series or the wonderful JL W7. good luck hope you have fun.

 

JL make's the best subs for my money. Kenwood makes nice amps at fairly cheap prices. I had one that hit real hard and it was a small amp. I beat the crap out of it and it never once gave me any trouble.

 

hey im really lookin into upgrading my whole sound system from the stock mach 460. I think i have a new headunit that the owner before me had installed, but besides that its all stock. What would be needed to do the whole thing? I was lookin at some JL subs, and it seems that the W7's are almost double the price of all their others. Is it worth the extra money?

 

Yeah DONT GET SONY ANYTHING, THEY ARE GETTING BEAT BY EVERYONE CUZ THEY SUCK!!!, If you want a good head unit go with clarion but since you want speakers go with something like kicker, alpine, etc. If you want kick *** base get some kicker L7'S or L5'S!!! These are the best subs on the market and they will kick the sh*t out of the JL W7's, and their about the same price.

 

Hifonics makes some pretty sick amps.... For the money JL I found is kind of over priced dont get me wrong they are very good subs but for the money you can get rockfords wich also makes great subs kicker comps as mentioned before. I have also had Eclipse Titaniums which pounded. Its all about preference and exactly what is your goal
