Default Not sure about this switch

Alright, so I just bought this 96 Mustang with a few extra interior mods, DVD screen and aftermarket Radio (pioneer). Down in the lower left hand corner behind the gear stick and under the radio there is an on off switch. I will ask the owner, but was just wondering if anyone here knows what's going on. The DVD screen turns on and off either way the switch is flipped. However, the radio changes drastically. When switched one way, it seems only two speakers are going, when switched other way all speakers are going. On certain radio stations it's a minimal change, on others, it's almost like sound goes off completely.

Just a quick P.S. question. On 96 mustangs and many others in that time frame there is the on top of dash mounted clock. Mine sticks up on the right side, do you think a plastic glue will hold this down. Or is there a tab that is broken. Maybe some JB weld will do the trick.

Anyways, if you guys can't help, that's fine, it just stumped me and I can't contact the owner for awhile. Thanks

Sounds like the switch is connected to an amplifier somewhere in the car. Flipping it cuts the amp on/off respectively, and thus powers the other speakers/doesn't power the other speakers respectively.

as for the clock there should be two clips onthe bottom of it. Sometimes the clips come off and are still lodged in the hole.

Alright, thanks both of you for answers. This car has one awesome engine, but it could use a littlce TLC, so I'm hoping to get it all ready for next summer. Anyways, I do think it's the amp as well, one of my buddies thought that too. Thanks a lot. I wonder if I can use that to power up some subs, might be nice addition to have the option to have subs on and off, as this car doesn't have much bass and sounds flat, but at the same time I don't want subs all the time, too annoying just wanna hear the engine. Cool, thanks for the advice.
