Default Quick fuse question (01 GT)

Working on some electrical problems with my 01 GT, I checked in my Haynes manual and found that fuse 8 (labeled Manual on the driver's side fusebox) is part of the audio circuit I've been having troubles with - should be a 10A fuse. I checked my fuse box, and there is no fuse in slot 8. I ran out to Advance and picked up some fuses, but none of them will fit the slot. They're small blade 10A fuses and are visually identical to the ones already in the car. The fuse slides perfectly into the slot but will not lock in (just falls out). I held in the fuse with my finger and had someone else reconnect the battery; all of the same electrical problems were still present with the fuse in.

I may be wrong on needing a fuse for this circuit; can anyone take a quick look at their fuse box and tell me what they have in slot 8? If you do, any idea why this fuse won't work?

look at the slot and see if there are the metal contacts that hold the fuse in. Doesn't sound like there is.
