FM modulator?
Alright, so I bought this Mustang awhile back and it had a LCD screen separate from the radio. I was just looking around the car and found some papers under the seat about it the shop that installed it and what was done. I don't remember everything, the papers in the car, but I figured I'd just post what I remember and see if I get an answer.
I know this may seem like a newbie question, but in truth, besides installing a new reciever and some subs, I am pretty new to this stuff.
I noticed that the shop installed an FM modulator. What is this? There is an ON/OFF switch by the gear shift that I don't believe is stock. When you push the button to the one position some radio stations lose power, or at least power to the speakers, and some stations lose power all together either filled with static or nothing. When on the other the radio plays as normal.
Some people thought it might be an internal amplifier, but could this be an FM modulator and if so what is it? I assume it has something to do with the screen as it was installed at the same time. Thanks!!

I know they're used to hard wire Satellite radio to your system. Is it something like this?

Okay, this really helps. I consulted, well researched a bit on crutchfield and other sources previous to asking on here, but they used such scientific phrases hehe. This is pretty much what it is. From reading, it looks like I can use this to plug into my stereo system in order to use radio frequency to give video sound. For instance, if I put a DVD player in the car, I use this to send a frequency to an unused station, therefor giving my sound from the dvd through the speakers without wiring up speakers to the player. Alrighty, thank you so much for the help. It really stumped me...
