Default Radio Bezel compatibility

I have a double-din radio that I am wanting to install in my 96 GT, however that would require some serious modifying to to the trim bezel to do this.

Does anyone know if the 99-04 bezel works in the 94-98 space?

Thanks!

Brian

I was going to get one of those bezels but it was hard to find on the junk yard, but I think they are compatible maybe some minor mods. don't be scared to hack your radio bezel, I did mine on 3 days.

The one that I have is cracked anyway, and would end up being too weak if I cut on it. If I am going to buy a new one, I would much rather get one that will better suit my needs.

I just did the install. Pretty simple really. Its nothing to serious if you feel like replacing with original if you feel like selling. Just cut about 5-6 inches off of the bottom lip on the dash behind the bezel. and theres two tabs, one on driv. side and one on the pass. side. cut those off too. then theres two clip on the bottom of the new bezel, cut them off. and the bezel is ready to be installed. The problem is bracketing in the radio and getting the plugs to switch out to your new rear def. and foglights. since i have the console too, ill be doing that as soon as i get a trim kit. ill post pics of what my dash looks like now with it in if you want

I would love to see pics on what you did if you got 'em. I hate to eat up the stock bezel for the '96, because then it looks tacky. Worst case is, I modify the stock one and fiberglass it. I can't believe nobody manufactures an aftermarket replacement for the bezel that has the double-din opening for the 94-98 mustangs that would be a direct fit. Hell, a billet aluminum one would really be cool!
