600 is plenty for 2 12's. It all depends on the equipment and installation.

two subs being out of phase would result in low/no sound while they were moving like all heck. For every inch on speaker moves out, the other moves in and the two cancel each other. This should result in a low impedence light comming on, the amp would never know the difference

One of the subs is wired backwards. Check your outputs I guarantee one had the - on where the + is supposed to be. Itll work at SUPER low volumes, but as soon as you turn it up it cuts out. Ive seen a bunch of times. I used to work at a sound shop where kids would bring their cars in with everything installed and they couldnt figure out why it either sounded like absolute **** or 1 sub worked the other didnt, etc, etc. Connections were on backwards.

I have wired speakers out of phase and the amp will not see a lower impedence. You are only changing the current direction which based on F=M x B ( thats a physics equation kids) if the direction of current (B) is reversed the cross product of that and the magnetic field will result in a force in the opposite direction.

Simply put, your speakers are not wired in the correct series/parrallel combination. They could be wired out of phase as well, but that should have no effect on impedence.
