new to all this. need some input
Okay. im totaly new to amps/subs/stereos
I have a 1996 lexus ls400. i have had it for like 2 months now. I am putting some subs in it, but nothing too crazy. I bought 2 10" from my friend. he had them in his car, but after like a month he took them out and replaced them with 1 12". He had them in an S-10 and 2 10"s dont fit very well in his cab. so they have just been sitting collecting dust at his house for like a year. so i finaly bought them from him $65 for both. 500watts each. only thing is that they are Pioneer. and i have heard both good and bad about pioneer.
but anyway, to my question. I want bass obviously, but i dont want it too loud. so i was thinking about a 500 watt amp. there is a place near where i work selling an MTX 500 Watt amp for $399, guy said he wants to get rid of it so he will take it down to $199.
good deal? bad deal? or go with a different amp?
edit: also, any one have any suggestions about wiring kits? i have been told that Tsunami is a good kit??

First of all. Will the Two 10" subs work with the mtx amp?
Find that out. Then come back to me.
The top of the line Pioneer's are decent.
I'm not a fan of anything but cd players by Pioneer.
All wiring, and amp kits, are the same. Go to Walmart, buy your guage, and amp kit, and it will be just as good as the top of the line.

we need to know the models numbers of the subs, or more importantly the impedence(ohms rating) and the voice coil configeration(single or dual voice coil). These need to be matched up to the amp to ensure you get the most out of it.
The only other problem you will have is the lexus is made too well..... They like to seal the trunk off from the cabin, as well as put the gas tank between the trunk and cabin. I speak from experience as we put 2 of our biggest 15's, with a big amp in one one time. It was a pain in the butt running cables that thick as everything is so tight it doesn't want to let you run 4 awg..... Then when we were finished, tuned the amp and it was SLAMMIN with the trunk open, we shut the trunk and hopped in only to give each other a funny look as we couldn't hear crap fer bass.... Went back and opened the trunk and it was like that Jim Carey movie where he was signin with the door open and closed, but it was with a lexus trunk and alot of bass instead of the opera voice. TRUNK OPEN = BOOM BOOOOM BOOOOOOOM!!@#!@# trunk closed = a little rattle from the licence plate..... OPEN = BOOOOOOOOOOOOM, closed = rattle........
We ended up cutting the opening for the factory sub out and that helped, but it just didn't sound like 15's........
sell the lexus and buy a stang, problem solved.... What kind of advise did ya expect on a mustang forum? Just kidding.........
