....but I keep seing the term "SQ". My first thought is "sound quality". But sometimes the context in which it is written, that wouldn't make sense.

SQ = sound quality.

SPL = Loud

SQL = Loud sound quality

BTW, I thought SPL was for Sound Pressure Level (guess that is just another way of saying LOUD)

 

Yes SPL does stand for sound pressure level. this is a measurable level of sound in dB. SQ is in reference to sound quality and is a more subjective area of audio...no real way to measure it as everyone has their own tastes.
