'06 Coupe - Best place to securely mount amp & sub?
Hey everyone, I made it past the hard part and just installed my Avic-Z1, siruis satellite, and hardwired my Valentine V1 while I was at it (my first ever audio install with the help of the online community)!
So now I have a Sony Xplod 1200w 2 chanel amp bridged to a single 10" Alpine Type R sub in an enclosed box. A guy at Best Buy wanted to charge me $80 to mount them securely (everything is already wired and sounds great). He suggested the amp mounted to the rear seat (well I can do that) but what is the best way to securely mount the heavier sub?
Thanks!

For good sound, I would look into facing semi-forward or sideways in the rear corner of trunk. Thatshouldgive you good bump, and keep thearea just behind theseat clear. I am not aware if the'06rear seat foldsdown to get to the passenger compartment, but if it does, that is always a good thing. As far as the amp, I am not familiar with the'06 (as mentioned above) so someone else canchime in on that one.

Thanks for the input so far, I was also thinking of bolting the amp to the rear of the seat. I tried the rubber mat trick and the mat I"m using isn't holding it in place. So far I have the sub facing sideways in the truck, seems to sound pretty good in that direction. So the amp is taken care of, now I need to find a respectable way to bolt down the sub... I don't want to think twice about accelerating hard out of a corner. [sm=gears.gif]
Any suggestions as to how a professional installer might do it? I found home depot metal brackets that could be bent into an "L" shape and bolted to frame near the rear taillights, as well as to the top of the sub... but that sounds a little questionable. It has to td othe job and look inconspicuous!
Thanks!

If you find a permanent home for sub, I would take out the speaker., and run a screw throught the bottom of the box and into the floor. Just make sure you confirm not wires or gas tank below [sm=badbadbad.gif]

not an S197..but my sub box (two 10" type Rs not one) is bolted to the bulkhead right where the seat latches are...two L-brackets as mentioned above...bolted to top of box and to the bulkhead...simple as PIE...i had to unbolt them to slide my box around to get to my rear shocks when i lowered my car...simple 4 screws and it was out...the box does not move at ALL
