Default iPod hookup solutions

I'm looking for a way to be able to connect my iPod to my car stereo. I don't want an FM transmitter, because in my exprience they don't work well. Also, I'm really not looking for a new head unit, as the stock CD player is fine with me.

I've come across this, though: http://www.icarkits.com/product_info.php?products_id=50

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it work well, is it easy to install, etc? And is it worth $150? Because that seems a little steep to me. Anyone know of a cheaper alternative?
