subwoofer help
yea so do my mine but i have my bass at -7 because i dont wanna blow them out hopefully. i'd rather have a sub put out the bass than the comps if possible. whats the chances of blowing the front comps with too much bass anyways?
My front comps are running 300 watts rms each side, high passed at 50 h, and all eq's are flat. Your kicker coax's could not handle anything close to that. If properly amplified, bass will not kill a midrange. You get into problems where your clipping your hu like crazy and sending a distorted signal to the speakers.
For$500.
Subs http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31(two of these) 2 x $125 = $250 (You will need dual 4 ohm coils and i like the black cone)
Amp http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31$133
Box- Build it yourself for $75 (Thats a lot of budget for a box)
Wiring - $50 ( You might as well do 4 guage for upgrade reasons in the future)
Thats around $500 with a grossly overrated box budget. You could build a dual 12" sealed box for more like $40-50
