NO power
So over the weekend someone decided they were going to fix my bass problem and ended up touching the amp control wire from the head unit to the ground wire n the amp while the radio was on. Long story short, I literally watched my $350 radio go up in a puff of smoke. So I could at least listen to music I tried hooking up the stock radio and it wont come on. All the fuses are fine so Im stumped. Any suggestions???
i guess the thing that confuses me is my HU is motorized and was able to open to eject the disk but that was it. It was blank and no sound. so there is some power just wont start any radio in there.
The ignition switched side of the circuit/harness is screwed up somewhere then. If the constant power lead is hooked up most players will load and eject discs. I had a Sony deck that fried that portion of its circuit and took it in for repair. Sony (at the corporate level even) couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, so they bought me a brand new one. It was even out of warranty. It cost me all of $50 for the shop labor after sony got involved. So... ya never know.
Not to add insults to injury... People think I'm crazy for fusing my remote turn on lead at the deck, but it would have saved you from your dumbass friend tonight. When you put it back together, add a fuse on the remote wire close to the deck. It will cost ya all of about $3 at radio shack. Check your owner's manual to see what size fuse ya need.

The same thing happened to me, if you turn it up all the way can you hear it a little bit? Your amp turn on is probally not hooked up, if you have the mach 460 or 1000. There is another connector that you can hook up the the cd player, because you have a slot for the radio and one for the cd player at least in my 96 gt. If i do not plug in the cd player the radio will not even play, try plugging the cd player plug into the radio.
ya I have the Mach 460 and I was using a radio out of my buddies 95 Gt and it didnt have the 2 unit set up like mine so I dont know if there is a compatibilty issue there or what. I would think it would at least light up though
