you need to find a +12v switched fuse and run a wire to it. How much is your GPS drawing?

umm, on the adapter it says:
input: 10-30V, 1.3 A MAX
output: 5V, 2 A.

Its possible that i could have just blown the adapter when atempting to hardwire, instead of it drawing to much power. Regardless my cigy adapter is broken and will not work in a normal cigarette lighter plug.

there is normally a fuse inside of the tip of the adaptor.

I know that, but the insides of the GPS adaptor is friggin gnarly. Its got like circuit boards and wire coils and electrical junk, although there is a fuse, hmmm....
