Help wiring my sub
Ok my buddy just gave me a 800w pioneer 12'. Tonight I bought a 800w american pro amp and the whole wiring kit. What color are the wires coming from the stock mach 460 head unit for the sub? Cuz im guessing i need to splice into these.
You shouldn't have to splice into but one wire. The headunit accesory wire, or power antenna wire, to run the remote wire from the amp to the headunit. Ground wire to chassis in the trunk and power wire from amp through the firewall to the battery and of course with the inline fuse.
Here is some guidance
Since you have a stock HU you will need a Line output converter (available at any car audio store) and will need to splice into the rear speaker wires. It is easier to go ahead and splice at the rear of the car instead of running your rca all the way back. Also, If the mach 460 has an stock amp, there will be a remote turn on wire to that amp, tap into it to get your 12V switched outlet.
BTW easter, It is generally a poor idea ot tap into the power antenna wire becuase then your amp only works when the antenna is activated. On many cars, the power antenna is only activated when the radio is on, not when a the CD or tape player are activated. This is not the case on all cars, but it is a good idea to steer away.
