Mach 460 detailed break-downs & descriptions?
I'm sure I am beating a dead horse here, but does anyone know of a webpage, or other source that has break-downs and illustrations with descriptions of the mach 460 system? I haven't had my '00 mustang long enough to dig into it yet, plus it's too s*tty outside to mess around with it. But, I would be really interested in finding detailed info on this audio system.
For instance, does the head unit power any of the speakers on it's own power? If not, how many factory amplifiers come with it? Where's the factory sub located? Wiring break-downs. etc.
Since the previous owner of this car (my sister) had an aftermarket deck, amp and subs before taking them out, I'm stuck with the original mach system which still sounds good, but I know the factory amp/sub isn't working on it. So, once it warms up a little I want to find out what's going on with it.

I assume you have the mach 460 not the mach 1000. The mach 460 has 3 amps and 4 subs. Two in the doors and two in back. There is one amp underneath your radio and the other two are in back under the speakers, you can see them from the trunk. I think that the radio has some power going to the amps as a high input level.

here is some more good stuff... This says the speakers being wired in parrallel actually drops the ohms to 3 ohms...

The harnesses look alike but the wiring is different between the pre '01 and '01+ 460 systems. On the pre '01 the larger rectangular harness justusesall the power and ground connections and all of the signal wires go to the smaller amp harness. On '01+ the large harnessuses all powerconnectionsAND signal wires. The smaller harness has two low level inputs (L & R), two power turn on's and two grounds for the amps. Best thing to do is buy the proper harness kit and plug it and forget it.
I finally got around to installing my aftermarket deck today. The install wasn't too bad aside from spending a half-hour soldering all the wires to the line converter.
