Will SecondSkin make a difference?
Hey guys. This is my first post on the forum. Theres a lot of great information here!
...Just have a quick question...
I saw a pair of 12" 1300W Sony Xplods as openbox items at a local BestBuy (~60 bucks for both! after the gift cards they also added). So I picked them up along with a MTX dual 12" enclosure and dropped it in my trunk (already had an amp) in hopes of getting a really low budget audio upgrade. They sound great! But, when I closed the trunk lid, The spoiler and license plate rattle like mad! At first I was kinda pissed, thinking that the spoiler/license was just the tip of the iceburg. But when I got into the car, I couldn't really hear any rattle from inside.
My question is whether I will notice an improvement *on the inside* by applying 40sqft of SecondSkin Damplifier inside the trunk and trunk lid? Will it sound cleaner? The bass does sound a little rattley and resonates on certain notes. The subs sound very clean when they arn't in the trunk, so I assume this is all from vibration.
I ordered 40sq.ft of Damplifier as soon as I go the subs, assuming they would cause all kinds of hell in the trunk. But after installing them, I'm having second thoughts. Should I send it back (makes my system that much cheaper!)? How much will sound deadening the trunk decrease (minor but noticable) vibrations caused by the subs elsewhere in the car? Any thoughts? Oh, and I have a 95 Mustang GT... if that helps anyone.

Yes, you will notice a definite increase in SPL.
To fix the license plate problem, you could either buy a $10.00 Dynamat license plate holder, or put some foam behind the plate itself.
