The old mtx's are reliable, but the from everyone i know that has the new mtx amps and subs, they have all had problems. I have had Kicker sub's and they do sound good, but i was unhappy with the quality, i went through more voicecoils, than i can count, i also had problems with the surrounds wearing out, all my friends have had problems with them too. So i went back with what i started JL audio, i have never had problems, sounds great with on the lowere and higher frequencies, might cost a little more but hey to me its worth it in the long run.

First and formost I would like to make sure you are not trying to install on your own..if you have a 460 or 1000 system you are going to fry the whole system not knowing what you are doing and about your question.. The kicker L7/ L5 is a nice speaker but made for comp. Comp speakers are not made to be driven down the road for an hour going all out..they..and the SOLO system as has a single voice coil that for some reason(Its a comp speaker) blows all the time you can be ghetto and place gorrila glue or something of that nature around the coil but that is brown and will negate your factory warrenty. I would suggest you go with MTX 9500 for the money..but it all depends how much you wnat o spend and it sounds like your getting a deal from a friend. I would have to say that MTX makes the second best amps on the market. right under treo. and if your spending the money to get these items knew thats who I would order from..they are hand made and cost about the same as the other two. thats where I would go..

MTX are great.... except they sound like a cat barfing.

Stick with kicker/jl audio/rockford for better sound. If you can afford some high dollar stuff go polk etc.

Definatly stay away from MTX and Rockford both on highs, rockford= lows only.

Kicker is Awasome, make sure you get L7 models and Duel 4Ohms Mtx amps are great, get the Class D amps, they dont overheat and run efficient at high outputs
