Why is everyone so crazy about the front stage set up? Why not 4 speakers?

I'm not worried about the install, I could do it myself if I really wanted to, I just want a professional job when it comes to the custom work. I don't want rattles, I don't want leaks, and I don't want shorts. and I want professional advice (seight=god right now, haha)

Edit: Is there something special about eD's stuff? All those numbers on their site don't do much for me. Is it higher quality than most name brands? Anything in particular? Does the front stage set up sound better?

Im crazy about front stages because if it's done right, your rear passengers, on the rare occasion that you have any, will hear everything just fine. Plus that say you drop $400 on a front set and $400 on a rear set... Think of how loud and clear an $800 front stage will sound. They are also totally worthless because you are listening to stereo sound, which is only meant for 2 sources anyway. If you want to invest in 5.1 in your car, you better live in it. If your system has a decent subwoofer, your rear stage would be overwhelmed by the bass...

Lots of reasons...

Where do you live anyhow?

Also, there is alot of info in the my Information sticky. Reasoning behind the worthless rear speakers, entire article on what capacitors do and why they are a waste of money. Tons of good stuff in there.

Southeast PA, only custom places around here are circuit city and a shop called good vibes. You really know how to answer my questions. haha the only thing I'm worried about now is name brand or what. And then where to have the custom work done. It'd be a 16+ hour trip to cruise down to their shop if I chose their products

Yes, they are made of the best parts out there, they are all hand assembled, I literally watched this take place on my trip to the shop(in that thread I told you about earlier). Heres what the big deal is on the pricing. eD has no dealers, no marketing, none of the crap that other companies need alot of money to pay for, therefor you aren't paying $800 for a W7 so JL can pay Funkmaster Flex to wear their T-Shirt, or to be installed crappy cars on Pimp My Ride. The 8 employees they have eat, sleep and breath audio. It's no BS, no flashy graphics or lights, strait up great performing equipment.

About the front stage sounding better? I mean it's going to sound great depending on what setup you choose and the install quality.

No Best Try or Circuit City should be in future unless your buying movies or printer paper. They are a brand name, just like I said they dont market, so not too many people know about them. I would suggest you to a local shop around where you live, the only thing that sucks is a place installing something they dont sell... Seen it and they just flatout dont treat those customers the same. I would A. Do it yourself, B. Talk to eD and see if they have an authorized installer near you ( these are guys that simply install in their garage and some people that work at custom shops, they have to apply and prove their craftsmanship with eD, and they get certified and when a customer like yourself calls and says hey I live 16 hours away from you guys, who can do a good install for me not so far away? Thats what they have these people for) C. Make the trip or talk to them about doing a pickup on your car, doing the work and bringing it back to you, taking it there would obviously be a little cheaper, but you may need to find something to do for a few days.

Look at the install I did a couple weeks ago. (Under intall pics)

I would only make a couple changes to Seights recommendations.

First, the ED comps are rebadged CDT HD series speakers. I would get the CDT-ES610's from woofersetc. They are last years highest end model (above the HD) and are on sale for $300. They are truely amazing for the money. The ED's however are also phenominal speakers and if you use the package builder, you can get a pretty hefty discount.

Second, if you want to save a little. I just installed the Eclipse AVN 5500 ($1000 at wooferetc) and it is a great unit. I'm not aware of too many differences between the models, but either one would be spectacular.

Rears are useless.

The voice coil is what makes the sub move. It is what fits inside the magnet. Go to howstuffworks.com and check out a speakers, they should have a write up.
