Webelevy, the 8s in the doors don't drown out your mids and highs? I'm having that issue now but I think it's related to having the factory amp RCAs hooked up to the "Front" RCAs from the head unit. Someone else suggested a Y-cable to split the "Sub" RCAs, is that what you did?

 

would an 8 with a "top-mount depth" of 4-1/4" fit in the door? even with modification?

 

I think 3.5 inches will be tight Remember you need at least an inch behind the speaker in order for the voice coil cooling mechanism to work. Otherwise you will toasting speakers quick!
