Removing stereo
I personally would just spend the $5/10 and buy the tool. I've had mine for several years and many removals. If money is an issue, perhaps an Autozone or Napa have some laying around you could borrow, or a car stereo place. Would only need them for 2 seconds. I wouldn't jeopardize slipping and screwing up my dash by pulling it out with a screwdriver or something[8D]
If it's the stereo with the holes in the 4 corners, then I've always used a wire clothes hanger. I'd cut 2 pieces about 6" each and make them into U shapes, just like the tool you would buy.
