Kenwood DDX7019 issue - Grrrrrrr
Hi Guys.
I went to get the Kenwood 7100 installed in my vehicle by a local installer. However, the 7100 is pretty thin on the ground so they got a 7019 and the kenwood Garmin external unit which together makes the same system.
Now, the Nav unit works perfectly, I'm very happy with it - however, I can only get to the Nav screen by flipping through the Videosource button.
On the main menu, the Navigation icon is there but was grayed out and unresponsive. If I play with the menu setup I can enable the icon but when selected it just goes to a generic file select menu, like it's selected a video input source. It's actually a Small thing but crazing me nevertheless. I paid a lot for the system and I'd like the "Nav" icon to work... or am I just too ****? LOL
The guys at the shop couldn't do it either - weird what?
Any ideas?
Marcus

i have the ddx6019. the only thing i can think of is that its a bug in the programming of the system that dosent recoginze that you have nav hooked up. trade it for the 7100 that you were originally gunna go for.
I have no clue what that meant, only been doin this stuff for 2 whole days now though........

What part of "However, the 7100 is pretty thin on the ground" did you have issues with? [:-]

The Icon your refering to is designed to be used with an external third party navigation system...not the factory Kenwood system. Its similar to the USB icon that shows on the screen, when a USB or HDD device is attached it shows USB, when you connect the Factory Kenwood I-Pod adapter it shows I-Pod. I have the DNX7100 and the local Kenwood proffessional installer (Creates Kenwood Show Cars)explained it to me when i purchased my head unit...because i had the same question.
Did the installer use the nav cable supplied with the unit or did they use another one? Also, if they have the stock, have them power another 7019 HU up on the bench and see if it sees the nav unit. It may be bad programming on your installed head unit.
