i had the same problem. if your aftermarket headunit is pioneer, the wiring harness is available at your local circuit city lol. i might be wrong but i recall it being close to 25 bucks. you can prolly find it cheaper online just run in and get model number so you know what youre searching online for.

I found just the simple adaptor that has ground, switch/constant power etc, because thats all I need, just for the headunit to get power (and plug in the antenna, obviously). Since ALL the sound coming from my car comes from the 4 RCA pre-outs on my head unit, I don't really care if the stock speakers are hooked up at all, therefore bypassing the factoring amps anyway.

It was around $12 (with shipping).

Thanks for all the help everybody!

Alright, so the problems begin already.

I have my new harness, now, I have NO idea wtf is going on behind the 460 head unit. The orange prong is the antenna, the clip on the right is the cd player below the unit.

Now, there are 2 plugs on the left side, have no idea what those are for, and then a bunch of colored wires that are screwed into the HU right in the middle. I'm guessing these are the wires I need to connect to the harness of my new Kenwood unit? However, the colors didn't look like they matched up, so I'm a bit puzzled.

And if this is true, why buy the other part of the harness, the one that plugs into the factory plug? I have to be doing this the easiest way, by not using ANY stock system parts whatsoever, all I need is constant, switched, and ground basically (I plug the amp turn-on lead into the switched).

Does anyone have any insight to this? Would like to have everything installed tomorrow, so I can FINALLY hear my radio over my exhaust.

"(I plug the amp turn-on lead into the switched). " = sparks......... don't do that.

If you are using seperate amplifiers for your speakers then you are correct you will only need one of the hrns's that is behind the deck, probably the one with the fewest wires in it. You do not necessarily need to buy the hrns as you can connect to the factory hrns with out cutting it off or doing any perminant damage if you know how to test for the wires(+12v constant, switched and ground, maybe the dimmer).
