Bridging an amp has nothing to do with distortion.

On say the Profile AP1000 the bold lines are the specs you need to pay attention to, don't even glance at any peak power numbers.

Peak Output Power (4 Ohms): 320W x 2

RMS Output Power (4 Ohms): 160W x 2

Peak Output Power (2 Ohms): 500W x 2

RMS Output Power (2 Ohms): 240W x 2

Bridged RMS Output Power (4 Ohms): 480W x 1

On the AP2000

Peak Output Power (4 Ohms) 640W x 2

RMS Output Power (4 Ohms) 320W x 2

Peak Output Power (2 Ohms) 1000W x 2

RMS Output Power (2 Ohms) 480W x 2

Bridged RMS Output Power (4 Ohms) 960W x 1

I'm sorry, but I have know idea what that means. How many Ohms does the 13kv.2 have?

I understand RMS, but what does 400/800 WRMS mean? I've never seen 2 numbers like that before.

So would the 1000 watt 2 channel amp bridged be alright for one speaker? RMS is 480 watts.

What's the difference between the Profile Baja and California?

I don't know about you, but I would save my money and get a job considering you're 15 and unemployed. I would just be plain unhappy with a system like that, but that's me.

You need to consider the cost of other things too. Wiring harness, amp wires (power, ground, rca, amp turnon lead, inline fuse) or a wiring kit, speakers, sub enclosure, your time invested in all this, and if you're even capable of doing all this yourself. And I'm not saying this is real hard or anything, but if you've never done anything of the sort, I hope you're adventurous. A car is a very expensive hobby, and especially when you're without a job.

Not trying to be an ***, just my two cents.

Money really isn't a problem. I would much rather get the stuff for free, of course. I have been saving almost every single penny since I was about 6 or 7 specifically for a car(still have about $3,000).

I'm not looking for the best of the best SQ, I have no need for that. I just want something that's somewhat bassy and doesn't sound like it's coming from a record player.

Both my brother and my dad have put in stuff like this before, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyways, I ordered the sub yesterday. I just need to know, Baja or California amp?

To be honest, I don't really know much about Profile amps other than that they are crap from what I've heard. So I can't really tell you. A quick look over the specs on a few of their amps and I don't really see anything too notable other than a few dollars difference and the color. Any reason you're looking at a 4 ch amp? Are you gonna be running speakers off of it as well?

Quite a few people on this forum suggest them(for the cost.)

I don't know where I said I was looking for a 4 channel, but I'm looking for a 2 channel.

Are there sub amps and speaker amps? I'm thinking that might be what the difference, but I don't know.

I've decided on getting the Eclipse CD1000 head unit, a 13kv.2 (dual 4), and a profile HA1040. Will the sub work well with that amp?

It's hard to read, but here is the diagram I used, but I am only doing half of it.

How do you think it will sound? Deep or tight and punchy?

Also, how should I wire the amp and sub? I've never done it before.
That's a 4 ch amp, am I wrong? Either way, I couldn't really give you a straight-forward answer to what the difference between the baja and california amps is. Sorry.

Yeah... That is a 4 channel amp. Well, I was meaning a 2 channel or mono.

It's all good. Thanks.

You really don't know much about profile amps.

Profile amps are the only ultra cheap brand I am aware of that puts out within 5% of its rated power, has a decent warranty, and if you do have problems allows you to contact a tech at profile to provide great warranty work. They are by no means an audiophile brand, but for the money, you will not beat profile watt for watt.

The only difference between the baha and california I am aware of is the casing. The circuits should be pretty close.

Checkk,

You do not need a 4 channel amp to power those two subs. I would personally invest in the HA1040, buy a single 13kv2 (dual2 ohm version), and some profile S-60A comps. That will be a great sounding stereo for the money. For the budget you are looking at, you might consider getting a pioneer or sony HU.
