basically dont type something unless you KNOW it. dont assume you know me, my car, or what my car sounds like. **** like that really pisses me off.

You are fighting a loosing battle. Here are a couple issues.

If the LOC sounds great, why is it just a bandaid?

I would consider anything better then stock an improvement.

BTW, we know what an LOC does to signal quality. It is a definate downgrade from a quality low level RCA input and is really noticable when you start cranking up the volume.

Not your paticular car but I have sat in hundreds of cars that were using a LOC.

and trust me it sounds a LOT better than the factory Mach 4****ty that is in there.
I still have people telling me there is no way I have the factory 460 in my car, it's all about what you do with your equipment, the CD7000 helps out tremendously.

Whoa now!

Well, if everyone has different opinions of what I should do, please give me some options!

My budget is about $400, cheaper if you can. I do not want to change the stock system.

I look forward to what you can come up with!

if 400 is the limit, i would start with a new deck and work up. adding a sub to the mach system is like putting an intake on a civic and expecting it to be fast. new deck then amp+sub(s) at the very least. new speakers and amp for the speakers when budget permits.

start slow. if your going to put a system in your car do it right you cant bandaid it and expect quality sound.

$400 system:

CD Player: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/5933$95
Fronts: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5207$99
Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2841$68
Sub: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=31$100
Wiring: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/3367$10
Box: $30 (Building supplies at Home Depot)

That puts you $10 over budget at $410, shipping might be a little bit extra. If you'd like, there are a couple subs under $100 that would fit the bill if neccessary.

One or a pair of the EHQS 12's.

P if you haven't bought one, do it trust me, I did on my last trip up there and the output is pretty impressive, and the SQ is mind boggling considering the thing cost $25.

I took out my buddies MTX 9510 that was in my car to put the 12" EHQS in my car, mainly because it sounds days better. The SPL somehow sounds the same but it obviously isn't, I just think the 9510 struggles with so many different notes that my ears give me that impression. And the 9510 says it can function perfectly in a 1.75 cu box but I think the thing needs atleast 2.5.

Anyway, the EHQS 12 is in my eD built 2.2 cu. tuned to 30 hz. Build the box and order one of those, you will quite possibly crap yourself in amazement.

I have to say I disagree with most of what is above. Not everyone is looking for studio sound guys and you would be suprised what a little work on the factory system can do while saving some cash...

man yer in the wrong place dude. Everyone here preaches the same stuff and if you are not into totally redoing your entire system and sinkingmoney into it then you are wrong.

I have sat in plenty of systems that use locs. They are often not as clean as if you were to have a new HU but if you are happy with the HU and not looking for studio sound you will be just fine. My only recomendation in using an LOC is to tap the signal as clost to the HU as you can. Most people are lazy and tap the rear speakers and that is the worst place to get a signal from. By getting it behind the deck you will also make it super easy to put in a new deck later and just plug in the rca's, IF you decide to upgrade.

The factory system looses out on the low end with the 5x7 subs just stuggling to hit the low notes, there are certainly enough mids andtweets right?. I have added subs to systems like these and then uses a little higher x-over on the rest of the speakers to clean them up and been amazed at what a polished factory system can do.

If you are interested in maybe a little more open minded forum(both on products and install) let me know and I can send you a link to one that may suit your needs better then this one.
