RE: 2 12" in 2002 Coupe
I'm glad the posts are starting to be a little more civilized.
I'm keeping the head unit,
#1, If I were to buy a new head unit, it would cost $500+ w/ built in gps.
#2 I'm satisfied with the mach audio system, especially in comparison to other vehicles on the road.
#3, The head unit that I would like, would draw a little too much attention to my car, and then I would have to worry about theft. Not a concern with the factory hu.
I absolutely agree that the Clean Sweep is an amazing product. I heard it at Tweeter yesterday and was shocked. But again, i'm satisfied with the factory system. The LOC will do the job, and I know there are many products that would out preform it. When I do, if I do, replace the HU, i'll take the extra time and wire the subs in correctly. But for now, I just want a little bit more thump.
I do appreciate the replies, suggestions, and criticism.
I spent the day looking at subs at different stores/shops, and I've changed my mind from the Rockford Fosgates to Polk Audio. I'll most likely stick with the Polk Audio DB124, or MAYBE the MM2124. The subs are going to be powered by a Power Acoustik OV2-1200. I heard three different models of the Polk Audio subs, and all three had a nice clean sound. I've also heard great things about the Power Acoustik amp, and it's almost a near perfect match for the subs. To top it off, I found a dual enclosure to fit rather nicely in my car, with the subs firing rearward.
How about that guys, is that any better than the sony amp? lol.

Like you, I also had to build my system on a budget. Here's what I did:
I kept the stock Mach 1 system and head unit. Then built a .88 cubic foot box that held a 12" sub inverted and on a slight angle. Filled the box with fiber and covered is with faux leather. Then make a trunk lid cover and mounted the amp to the lid. My wife did a great job on the leather. The sub came from the local flea market and the sub off Ebay. Total cost was less that $300 and will still set of car alarms at the mall.

How's it going?
I'm just curious if anyone knows of a how-to for running the power wire from battery to trunk for subwoofers.
Thanks!

or rather than making another hole in your firewayy you can poke a hole in the grommet for the factory wiring harness on the drivers side. Thats what I did. it is still ark outside right now, but once it gets klighter I might be able to get a pic of it if needed.
