radio bezel insert...
I got a '99 Mustang about a month ago, and it has the stock radio/cassette and lowercd deck. I've got my aftermarket Pioneer deck that I had in my S10, and I want to swap out the stock and put that one in. My question is, what do I do to fill the empty slot where the stock cd deck is? I'm just really trying to avoid having an empty hole in my dash.
Thanks in advance, and pictures would help too if you've got them.

RE: radio bezel insert...
go to a shop and ask for a front mount din pocket, or a universal din pocket. It will slide in and lock in place and allow you to put a few things that you would really rather pick up out of your back floor board, or under your seat. I say this as everytime you give it a little gas, what ever you put in there will fly out and land were I mentioned. The stock buckets had a rubber mat on the bottom that helped this alot. I just recently pulled mine out of my 94 gt and am not using it if you are not in a hurry and would rather have a stock piece.

Call me dumb...but what kind of shop exactly? I've been told to go to car audio shops and different body shops or Ford specialty shops. So just curious what shop you're talking about.
I'm a pretty picky person about not wanting junk piling up in my car, so those little pockets and compartments stay empty. Plus...you're right, those things never hold anything unless you're parked. I just want the compartment so I don't have a big hole in the dash.

Yea, I tried that. But the only install kits they have come with the parts to make it fit into the top opening where the radio/cassette is...there's nothing to put into the bottom hole where the stock cd deck is. They have them for older and newer Mustangs, and it's basically just the pocket to slide your aftermarket cd deck into, with a thin 1 inch pocket attached to the bottom of that. But the set up in mine is totally different than that. Thanks though.

Just a thought stangant, but instead of just doing the plexiglass and letting everyone see all the wiring and crap, why not get a piece of mirrored glass cut and then mount the plexiglass to it. Just my 2 cents.

just frost or sand the back of that piece of Plexi. Mask the running pony on it and paint the surround black so the pony is all that glows. Simple things I did for my old Camaro, granted it was a bowtie, not a pony that glowed.
