Well its been in my car for a while and I just noticed that it dosnt work anymore. It just turns over and over and over. Then when it does start it keeps the start going then the whole car shuts off. I have a compustar alarm system, and the car has a robert thibert remote start system in it. I just dont under stand what would make it just stop maybe a fuse thats hiden. I had a shop install it but they went out of bussiness so I cant take it back. Any help would be much appriaciated.

who is robert thibert? been installing for a long time now and I have never heard of this dude.

Do you know if the shop that put it in knew what they were doing? Remote starts have 2 basic ways to know when a car is started. One way and the most reliable is by watching the tach wire. This requires running a seperate wire, identifying the correct tach wire(this can be a pain just to find, let alone to diagnose!) and making a good connection. The 2nd way and the easiest is through voltage sensing. The car monitors for when the engine kicks on and the alt spikes, then it turns off the starter. This way normally requires that you "program" the unit to your car and this program is suseptable to changes if you change a battery, kill a battery, change an alt, or if the system is just having a bad day. Your started overcranking the way you describes tells me that it does not recognize that the engine is going. Now if it cranking an not starting then it could also be that one of the accesory wires is bad idunno?

Stick your head under the dash and take a quick look. If everything was installed correctly you should not se any of the wiring or connections but depending on who did what you never know what you will find.

That does kinda make sence I did have my battery and Altenator replaced and thats when it stoped working. Is there just a wire that I should see runing to the altenator or is it something hiden.

yup, they did voltage sence then. There is nothing really wrong with it but the tack wire is better to use(but more difficult as I said).

If you know the make and model of the alarm I can probably get you the program sequence. It is normally nothing more then pushing a button and starting a car, you can do it yourself.
