A solid flat place of metal, take a razor or some sandpaper and make sure you have a clean, bare metal spot, take some self tapping screws and drill them in.

Theres a video tutorial on properly grounding an amp. Go to my FAQ Sticky, and go down to where it talks about general tutorial videos.

before screwing? maybe after.....

Where is the amp being mounted? The gas tank goes under the spare tire well in most stangs and there really isn't much space under there.

a nice amount on the ring terminal before being screwed to the ground spot will make the silicone smush out surrounding and covering the hardware.
after would just cover all of it, and be a messy goop. ive done both ways before, you dont need to act superior to me.

i know on a 2000 v6 model there is a ground that you can use if you remove the left trunk panel. It is a ground for sumething else so all you will have to do is unscrew place the ground wire then screw back in not hard and no drilling required.

I would think that the silicone would form a small barrier between the terminal and the ground spot, because the likely hood of getting all the silicone out would be minimal. I think that is what ttocs is thinking. The point of the ground is to have nothing there but metal to metal, isn't it?

In the vert, i used the mount for the amp till i broke the bolt off, then i used what i believe to be the ground for the convertible top motor.
