Power Wire Into Amp ( Pic Please )
Getting ready for a system install and wondering if anyone can help me with a picture of where the power wire goes into the Amplifier. I have my power wire and RCA cables ran to the trunk allready. I bought a alpine amp, Can any size power wire go into it or is it strictly one size.
I have a 4 gauge stinger wire, Will this work in a Alpine V Power amp?
Thanks

as long as the wire goes in and you can tighten it its fine. you dont need to be running a 2000+watt amp off 8 guage wire though, and you might not necessarily need 2 guage for a 500watt amp.
+1 it will say on the amp which one is the remote (which will be the smallest slot), ground, and power. if not then you can try taking the top cover off most of the circuit boards will have power ground and remote labels on them (will probably say gnd for ground, remote will be the smallest one, and the odd ball will be power)

If you have stock wiring in the rest of your electrical system, you could probably get away with 8 ga. Thats pretty much the biggest the rest of your electrical system is anyway. Nothing wrong with just running 4 ga. to be safe. You don't need to really worry much though until you upgrade the other stuff.

I have seen 8 guage melt on a 200w amp, anything can and will happen.

I have the 4 gauge wire allready ran into the trunk so its no problem using that. The amp should be here next week, If i have any questions i will be back.
First install so their might be a few questions

looking at the Alpine amps it looks like they will accept the 4g wire just remove the neg - wire off the batt and remove the fuse on in line holder wire up the amp then you can reconnect the fuze & batt wire.
