It has been more then a few years since I went to any DEI seminars but no I do not remember them recomending a toggle switch be used on the black/white for a manual. That is not safe as it leaves the human eliment to screw it up and end up like you did. I installed a nuetral safety switch on my truck and used this wire with the proper tools and techniques to prevent that from happening. Been on there 10 yrs now and I have not had to touch it nor had any accidents. Who would have been at fault if there had been person between the car and the door? Your buddy was incorrectly oporating an inproperly installed and more then likely illeagal remote start? Dei would certainly deny your 1rst class cert and that the toggle switch was there for use in a manual and you would have a long time to thing about it.

And you can stick up for best buy all you want but I know that all you care about is your conversion numbers, and getting out of your car quick enough so that you get your bonus[:-]. If that was not the case then you would have taken a walk to another shop that does not pay as much, but does better work. I know what kind of work is done when it is rushed, your company encourages installers to get done as fast as possible since there are a dozon other deck and 4's to go after your car(don't forget to offer the warrenty!).... I thought I did the best work that I could when I was meeting BBY's standards just like you do but again you will learn a whole new world of install when you leave them........

Do you want a new hood ornament to match the one that he mounted to his car? Garage doors look better on houses, not cars.

Who the heck is it that makes the alarm for a manual? I was thinking code or somebody made one that had a manual mode. It required that when you wanted to use it that you activate it while the vehicle is still running, and then exit. When you activate the alarm it would lock the doors and then turn off you motor. As long as the doors had not been opened before the next time you needed to start it, the alarm knew that the vehicle was in nuetral and would allow you to start it. If a door trigger had been violated it would not allow you to start it.

I put a remote start on MY manual with full knowledge that it is probably illeagal and that I could possibly drive it through something that I didn't want to if something were to fail. I would not do any system other then what I described, and would NEVER put in a system as he described in my own or anyone elses vehicle. it is just a matter of time before something bad happens.......

A. best buy got rid of "bonus in car time" pay rate 4 years ago (and it sucks, because now people work WAY to slow to avoid comebacks)
B. Go buy a dei r.s., you'll the valet button, and a seperate TOGGLE SWITCH, it comes in the box to turn the r.s. off, it wasn't some ghetto invention of mine
C. Dei has no bearing over peoples mecp certification status, they don't own it or run it so how would they take mine away
D. As far as saftey goes, i think me giving out r.s. advise is safer then people telling each other how to do a 5 lug convertion or rearend gear swap, if someone jacks one of those jobs up after you tell them how to and they have a wheel fly off at 120 mph its going to create a heck of a lot more problems for "liitle kids in the area" right?
E. There is no LAW to the legality of r.s. on a manual trans, just lawsuits.
F. Everyone knows (or should know) to use common sence, just because i tell someone to jump off a cliff doesn't mean they should do it.....

didn't know that about bby changing the pay scale, good for them for a change.

I think turnin the remote start on and off and using it as a safety switch are two different things.
