1996 Electrical Issue
I just purchased a 1996 Mustang GT with the Mach 460 speakers. The problems come with I don't have a owners manual or any info on fuses so I don't know if I'm missing them or not, but neither of the cigarette lighters work, the previous owner removed the door jam button to turn on the dome light when you open the door, and neither of the speakers on the drivers side work. I know the rear speaker work, but no sound comes out. The twetter works but not the bottom door or rear drivers side. I'm digging into all of it but everything else seems to work fine. Anyone have any insight?
I also just took the aftermarket head unit out and took an ohm reading from the positive and negative of each individual speaker and got near the same reading for each speaker? Does that mean I'm just not getting power there but the the wires are good? All the speakers are good, just the drives side 2 main aren't making sound.
After some further inspection, there is a slight hum, possible a small amount of actual sound coming out of the speakers that don't work. Is there an amp that powers those two speakers? Is the amp right below the rear speakers? Does the tweeter use the amp? The tweeter works fine on the drivers side but not the other two. Also, when I start the car of shut it off, the speakers make a loud crackling sound.
