Default Head Unit troubles

Hey guys i have an 84 mustang gt vert and i decided to finally get a head unit for it ( there was none in it when i bought it from a private owner, i mean nothing was there). So i buy the wiring adapter also but i cant figure out which plug to put the adapter into, the one i plug the harness and head unit into i get no sound. Are there any diagrams for my cars wiring or does anyone have any ideas whats up?

I'm having a similar issue putting a replacement head unit into my '90. The problem as I see it is that there is just one, common, earth for all the speakers & the aftermarket adapters always assume seperate earths - it should just be a case of grouping all the earth leads together on the adapter side & bridging over to the main harness speaker earth lead.

To see if you're plugging into the correct factory plug (assuming you're seeing 2) grab a multimeter & see which plug is carrying 12 volts when the ignition is on or at the accesory position. That way you'll know which plug is power & which is for the speakers.

Your car probaly has a common ground wiring system in it. Does the speaker hrns have 5, or 8 wires on it? You should be lucky that the factory radio is not still in there as it is a pita to get out.......

You may have a premium system, is there an amp under the seat or under the radio? Either way your car should not be a problem. Once we know if there is a premiums sytem in the car there is only a couple of things to do........

From looking at the other options the car has I believe it has the premium system - haven't seen an amp but then again I wasn't looking for one either.

What are the couple of things to do?

Thanks in advance for the help.
