Default 2002 gt mach 460 audio problem

hey guys. im rather new to here but it seems like its a pretty helpful place for a lot of things.

anyway i just bought a 2002 mustang gt the other day and am in love with it. but the one gripe i have is the head unit of the mach 460. when i got it ( i had my father pick it up for me because of my job) there was a cd jammed in slot 2. well the problem is still there but we managed to pull the cd out with a hemostat (medical pliers basically).

The headunit still says though that there is a cd in slot 2 and it will not accept any other slots or cds. the radio works perfectly fine and sounds amazing, but i havent gotten to check out the rest of this system being the music person i am.

any help would be much appreciated

welcome.......

Unfortunatly I do not have much to tell you that is good about the indash changers. There is typically one question per week pertaining to jammed cd's. It seems they are particularly sensitive to the thickness of cd's and do not particularly like burned cd's, especially with ANY kind of label on them.

I am happy to tell you that the 460 is easily upgradable, do not believe anything that the local shops and stores will tell you about needing to yank everything. With a little tuning and some tweeking it can sound much better then it did with the indash changer, be happy to help you through it.

Check page 2 of my sig to see how swapped my deck out of my 94 with the 460. You have some different wiring but the same stuff. I have since gone headfirst into a complete stereo makeover, but the mach equipment never did stop working..........

well me and my father went at it after i got home from school. we managed to figure it out and i think it may be that common problem in all of them

when you take the headunit out and everythign there are either 3 or 6 weird shaped screw heads. not phillips or flat but that other one.... star shaped... well take those out and then you can see the boards and everything and the decks that hold the cds. In mine the decks were off centered and also the ejector rollers were dirty. The ejecter belt was also off of the wheel. The belt is just a very thin plastic belt on the front of the unit. basically all you need is some patience, a few screw drivers, some needle nose pliers, q tip, and rubbing alcohol. basically fixed an expenzive problem in less than an hour...

By the way.... IT SOUNDS FREAKIN AMAZING! Im glad I bought this car
