loud crack noise with head unit
I have a 2000 mustang with a mach 460 sound system. I put an aftermarket pioneer head deck in with an aftermarket amp and subwoofers. I now have a loud crack when I turn the head unit on (like a powersurge from the factory amps kicking on late). I was able to get rid of the sound by connecting the factory amp turn on wire with the all time 12+ wire, but obviously that drained my battery and that is no good. All of the factory speakers work great along with the amp and subwoofers after the crack that happens when the head deck turns on. I want to know if anybody knows how to get rid of this sound. I would appreciate the input guys.
You need to put a 1000 ohm resister in line with the remote turn on wire for the factory amp. It will stop that annoying thump, definitly take that wire off of the constant, its not good for the amp to do that, go back to the blue/white or just blue on some h/u. In the long run you really should bypass the stock amp and do aftermarket speakers, but as long as it works now just go with it i guess.
