Subs In a Hatchback
hatch backs are great for systems. It doesn't take much to make them jam. AS for stolen stuff idunno. I have never had any stereo stuff stolen from my car. Often times as long as you take the proper steps with security there should be no problems.
I had PLENTY of stereos in my hatch. 1 12, 3 12's ,3 15's, 2 jl audio w6 18's (ppi 1800w amp = WOW!!), yada yada yada. Some examples were a bit extreme, but it doesnt take much to make some noise in a hatch.
Tint your back window as dark as legally possible. One thing about having a loud stereo is you're advertising what you have. One of the reasons I had such a variety of systems is b/c of the sorrya$$ people in this world. Spend your money in a security system first.

as long as you don't have a competition-type sound system, there's little need to worry. only desperate people will break into a car for 2 12"s and an amp... honestly.

The only stereo equipment that I have had stolen from me was my faceplate. Yes JUST the faceplace they left the deck in the dash..... I was parked at a remote bike trail-head and they slim-jimmed the door and grabbed what they first saw. The grabbed my faceplate from the door panel, my bike tool box(with its 20 yr collection of stickers, the real loss) that was on the floor and my wallet from the consol. I was pissed as hell about the box and faceplate, but amazed that bank of america had already called to say they noticed suspicious activity on my check card by the time I got home.
