Yes they do make some models that really work, we have some at out fire dept, I was also able to get one and let me tell you no red lights is awesome, but they are illegal to own, so if you get one just don't get busted with it

 

oh great. it looks like a radar detector mounted and radar detectors are illegal in VA. i can never get any of the cool toys.

 

This system only works with a city or county that has opticom or mirt installed. You can strobe a traffic intersection all you want, but it will not work if the system has not been installed in that area. I have a good knowledge of these systems, I control 1600 traffic intersections in Mi.. My crews also install opticom in a few of these cities. The system works great I have strobed insterections at a 1/4 mile away it changes the traffic light to green until I have passed thru intersection.

 

ha can u even buy one of those??? Man that must be a fat ticket or something's gotta give. Arent they illegal and can only be used by ambulances, fire trucks and police cars???

Ya got a nice stang & sounds. I've got 900 watt for 1 sub 10" & 900 watt, for 2 -5 1/2" clarion components & 2-6X9" rears inside old school 1970 mach 1.

 

they work all right, but yea you might get caught, espesically attracting more attention with a mustang and all. It would be usefull in like bumper to bumper traffic, but if you were the only one on the road and a cop saw you that wouldn't be good. [&:]
