subs
I recently just purchased two tens and a new amp for my 2001 gt vert. (i've got an aftermarket head unit)
I'm installing them myself tomorrow, what are some things I should look out for or just general tips?
also i'd like to see some pictures of your subs/boxes.
thanks!

the most important tip to installing an amp is to install a fuse 12" from the battery.
How much stuff have you or your buddies put in? Do you have a mach system?
my box is on page 8 er something of my cardomain page

honestly be carefull, some of the worst installs I have ever seen was by mechanics. Everybody thinks that installing is something that a monkey can do but it requires specific knowledge and technics just like a mechanic does but they are a little different. Mechanics often think that they already know everything about a car but are often over their head with modern stereo equipment. The lack of install knowledge combined with a attitude that they can't do any real damage "just putting in a stereo" can make for some scary endings.
The most recent story that comes to mind a guy connected to harmless looking orange wires on the radio hrns since they looked almost the same. what he did was ground the dimmer circuit for the dash and then when he turned on the lights he simply blew a fuse. After watching a few more fuses blow evertime he turned the lights on he did what everyone would do and inserted a bigger fuse until it didn't blow anymore. In the end he melted the dimmer wire from the deck to the fusebox when the fusecould notblow. It melted a good portion of his ignition hrns and the dealership quoted him $3500 to fix hisnew tacomas stereo install....

I agree with ttocs. My close friends family owns a performance shop, I trust them to the end to do anything to my car mechanical. But never my stereo. The install in his Mustang is down right horrifying, I wouldn't have been surprised to see the + ran through a door jam. I always offer my service to him, offered to do some time consuming custom stuff for free because the car will honestly be in a magazine within a year, I wouldn't mind seeing my name next to stereo install done by:. But he said his brother takes it somewhat offensivly when he mentions me installing the stereo because he's so good at what he does, its two completly different things and they don't really understand that. It's like when he got the car painted, why did you send that out to a paint shop, it's something being done to a car, you guys work on cars, why didn't you do that too? Well, we just don't know how or have the tools to paint cars. Well you don't know how to install stereo equipment either but....
