Amp
it is called a bench test. You need a good +12v power source that can handle the power draw, and a source and a speaker. If you do not have these things most shops will do it for you for a small fee....
an easy way is to pop the hood, connect the ground and + to their correct terminals. Have a speaker that you know works(even a small home speaker will work for a temp test) and connect it to the amps outputs. Now use a headphone to rca converter cable and use an mp3 player or discman as your source and plug it into the amps inputs. When you are ready, take a jumper wire and connect the +12v and remote turn on terminals on the amp and your amp will, or should turn on. If you have your player on and the speaker hooked up it should play. Make sure to insulate all connections with tape or something to prevent it from shorting out.
