Default Weird problem with my deck.. Any ideas?

The deck I have is a nice Kenwood deck, close to top of the line( no idea what model it came with the car when I bought it.)

Well anyways, I was sitting in my car lastnight waiting for a buddy to call me, he did and I turned my car on. My deck flips out and then turns itself on. Well it flipped out, and all the buttons light up but the words on the deck aren't there. Like the radio station letters...

I'm like wtf... I didn't touch anything.. But the car still plays music, and if you touch the buttons it switches stations or when I select cd I can change songs. I noticed though that if I push the eject button and the deck flips out to spit the cd out the letters came back but when it flips back to normal the letters were gone again... then later I did the eject thing again but this time the letters were gone completely...

Anyone have any idea what happened here? I disconnected my battery for a minute to see if it would reset itself but it didn't... Should I leave it disconnected overnight?

Help please?

The radio is going bad. It happens, time to get a new one. You might try cleaning the metal contacts were the faceplate touches the deck. Make sure its not dirty. It might work but probably not.

Damn... It's a really nice deck too.

I guess I can't complain too much, it was free after all.
