Stop thinking about speakers as making sound waves and think about the pressure that they make, which is what you hear. When a sub is at its max excursion if all of the other speakers are not at their max then you will loose pressure, and sound. AS I said before when you stick different sized speakers on the same note the speakers will react differently because the way they produce the same note is not the same. This is not as evident with smaller speakers because of the how far apart they are and they play a wider range of notes. If you have two of your identical mids wired out of phase it will only sound "funny"(if you know what to listen for) but have you ever seen what happens when you wire a sub out of phase from its mate? You get almost no output from the pair because for every inch one speaker moves forward, the other moves the exact same distance backwards leading to no difference in pressure, and no sound even though the subs will be moving in and out at their max excursion.
So to make this long story short you want all you subs working together, not apart. When you mix different sized speakerson the same freq you will not be able to ensure that they are all moving together as you want them to.
Now with this said if you are really really set on using 10's with 12's I would have to wish you luck as you will probably be tweeking and tuning that system constantly toTRY and make the most of it. If that is what you like then more power to ya but I am more a fan of the KISS(keep it simple stupid) philosophy, as well as do it right, do it once. This doesn't fit into any of these....

alrighty. so can you all help me with this then. i am dead set on using 3 speakers cause theyre replacing my back seat and two speakersleave too much room and i dont have enough room for 4 speakers. i know i cant equally wire 3 speakers to get 2 ohms. but do ohms work like this... if my amps produce max power at 2 ohms, and i wire my system for 3 ohms, do i get 2/3 of the power? so if my amps together produce 2100 watts, am i getting 1400? i was told i could "daisy chain" my amps together. would this work?
As far as num, bers go, not that your amp will actually do these numbers but...
2100 watt amplifier at 2 ohm, will produce 1575 watts at 3 ohm.
Again, your doing something that creates odd number and ohm loads, this isn't really a bad thing, it's just much easier to do things in even numbers. Hard to get an equal amount of power to 3 woofers when most amps have only 2 outputs. And if your taking one bigger amp to power two of them and a smaller one to power the 3rd one... Do you see what im getting at?
So what are you actually thinking of doing now? 3 of what?
What would be the problem with going with one or two louder woofers as opposed to three mid-level ones? As I have told people before it's more fun to say "My stereo is just as loud as yours and I only run 1 subwoofer"
You can build a big box toachieve your goal of "taking up alot of space" and havingone or two woofers.

as long as you bridge your amp to a mono signal the subs will equally split the power, assuming that they are all the same speaker.
Are you saying that you are going to use 2-10's and a 12? Please tell me that you are using 3 12's or 10's.....

i am thinking about going 3 10's now if the 2 10's 1 12 doesnt work... ive already got all the stuff, so i might as well try it. the guy installing my amp and tuning itsays that he's done systems like this before and theyve turned out great. so idk. but like i said, if it doesnt work out im gonna do 3 10's.
i know none of myamps individually will push 2100, but i have 3 mono amps (1000, 750, 400) and i was wondering if i can somehow wire all 3 amps together to produce one current of power. i just dont want to have to sell all of my amps to buy a 2500 or so mono amp cause ive already invested about 2k in amps and im not gonna get that much money outta them even though theyre practically brand new.
if i do go with 3 10's im going to wire the three speakerstogether (get 3 ohms) and try to get my amps to produce one big current of power... if i can do that... ?

why wouldn't you be able to strap 3 amps together? Strappig is the technical term but I am sure your installguy can take care of it for ya. I would go to him if he has had luck matching 10's and 12's, he knows something I don't.

You really have $2k invested in just amplifiers?!?!?!?
Hmmmmm $2000 in amplifiers or...
2 13Av.2's
2-Nine.1's
1-5.0 cu. box
Wiring
Big 3 Kit
All of that for $1650
I have no idea which I would choose.
I might lean towards the one that actually has speakers, an enclosure, and a proper wiring configuration
with those amps i can assure u that you dont have enough current to keep them all fed properly so that 1000watt amps turns into a 750watt amp and so on down the line. These amps were tested prob at 14.4 volts (which your car can not do) so ull see no where near there rated power. No big deal but just a heads up that ull need another 200$ or so.
07lane40 Listen to what these guys are talking about. Personally one sub and call it a day. That is what I am using now one ID MAX 12. Previous set up one dd 3512. But since you have the subs already I would get rid of the single 12 just use the two 10's and make sure they are in the right enclosure per speaker compnay specs and go from there.
