I heard about that.

Wasn't it in a concrete volkswagon or something?

I also heard he had a little more left in it.

yep since that install he changed setup with 2 dd 9918z's with 2 stetsom 7kds doing 181.3. As far as the 1 9918z doing 180.5 i do believe they tried at first with 6 stetsom 7kds but cut it back down to 4 not sure why havent talked to himin a few months(im sure it wasent the sub that limited the amps due to the z's not having a rms or max basiclly give it all you can wire into it). Unsure of car model was a hatch im sure (could have been his vw golf but that thing was brand new so i dont know)- unsure if entire car was concrete im sure the floor was but rest uknown.

hey disturbed, can you explain exactly why you dont mix 10's and 12's? cause when on a same note they should play the same frequencies, just one's (the 12)a little louder than the other (10's). the 10 will have a higher reach though and a 12 will kick the low notes out better. in theory. why in reality does that not work?

You'd have trouble with the crossover, amplification, and levels. with such a narrow bandwidth as a subwoofer there's no point really in splitting up the frequencies. The major issue is it won't sound good initially. After fine tuning seperate boxes, amplifiers, and crossovers and likely a EQ of sorts and the $$$ ull spend having a shop tune all this for you(all adding money) it still won't be as loud or sound quite as good imo as 3 of the same size subs
It's just a lot of added work for next to no added performance. hope this helps it would take forever to sit and explain everything about it.

you can mix subs of different sizes if you are carefull, but not normally a 12 and a 10 since they are so close in size. When usingdifferent subs you want to maximize the speakers to play the notes that they do best while not crossing over into the other subs freqs. Mixing something like 8's and 12's or 15's can give the quick sound the 8's give as well as the low end of the 15 as long as you do not have the speakers playing the same range of notes. If you have the different sizes of speakers playing the same notes you will get cancellation that occures because one speaker will naturally play differently(louder or softer)then the other. If you have subs playing at different volumes the speaker that is not playing as loud as the other will actually take sound away from the sub that is louder. If you have two subs of the same size playing the same note and slowly fade to one speaker the amount of bass output will drop not only because on sub is not getting as much power but also because of this cancellation.

are those subs that are put in the same box?. it makes no sense that 3 seperately boxed subs will be affected by one another in the same range. i could understand why fading would cause that to drop, but not 3 speakers one on a seperate amp than two others playing equally...

okay, so you guys are saying that i should use a high-pass crossover, say 70hz like this one http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...amp;tab=review
on my 10's and then set the 12 with a low-pass crossover like this one? http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...ver&tp=117

should i do 70Hz or 100hz or how about 50hz? or would this even work? im not asking about the quality of the item, im asking about the theory.
