Default Dual Voice Coils

If a dual voice sub is rated at 4ohms, then that means each coil is 4 ohms right? So if i put the two coils in parrallel...the sub is at 2 ohms...and if i put them in series...its at 8 ohms...but how do I run 1 sub at 4 ohms? Can I just connect 1 coil, and leave the other disconnected?

You could but you cut the sub in half basically. So if your sub is rated at 300 watts rms, then it would only handle 150 watts rms.

Nope...you will blow the sub really fast if you wire only one coil. DVC subs work with each other and are designed that way. Only using one coil is like walking with one leg....your not going to get anywhere without falling.

You have to run what is called series-parallel.

Wire your sub in series to create a 8 ohm load and then bridge your amp creating the 8 ohm resistance to go to 4.
